Exploring the Information Landscape | Tripping over Tropes: What makes up a genre?
We’ve all been there: the book cover looks super neat and there’s a cool robot dog so it must be science fiction, yet somehow, it’s a western. Book descriptions and covers can sometimes be misleading and confusing. How can you tell what you’re really getting into? In this workshop we’ll go over some foundational aspects of fiction genres, how to identify them, and how to evaluate reviews and descriptions to ensure you’re getting what you’re looking for in your next read.
