Oral history recordings are a rich but often underused research resource. This workshop explores how firsthand accounts can add human context and new perspectives to research across a wide range of disciplines. Participants will learn how to discover oral histories using the library’s Oral History as Data platform and how to incorporate recordings into their own projects through citation and embedding.

During this workshop, participants will:

• Explore how oral histories can provide unique insights for fields such as Health Education, Environmental Science, Economics, and Psychology.
• Learn how to search digital collections, navigate Oral History as Data transcripts, request access to recordings that have not been digitized, and generate transcriptions as needed.
• Discover strategies for embedding oral history recordings in research projects while ensuring they remain accessible and properly cited.
