This workshop aims to provide attendees with an introduction to simple podcast production. An overview of basic audio recording will be the focus of Part 1, including recording techniques, file types and organization, and a sampling of various recording hardware and software. Part 1 will also provide time for a brief overview of Audacity, the audio editing software we’ll be using (though Part 2 will be where we dive deeper into the program and how to actually use it).

Upon completion of this lesson, students will:

• Be able to record audio using various equipment and techniques
• Be able to properly save and organize their audio files for later assembly
• Have Audacity downloaded and installed on their computers
• Have a basic understanding of Audacity and what to anticipate when editing
