Podcasting Part 2 of 2: Assembling and Editing

Podcasting Part 2 of 2: Assembling and Editing

Part 2 of the podcasting workshop will introduce and demonstrate key audio editing concepts like trimming, equalization, compression, and noise reduction, as well as a quick overview of audio transcription for use in editing. In the week since Part 1, participants will have recorded their own audio, which they’ll be using in Part 2 for practice. A large portion of this workshop will involve using Audacity, so participants should be sure to have the program installed on their personal machines by the beginning of class.

Upon completion of this lesson, students will

  • Be able to record audio using various equipment and techniques
  • Be able to assemble and edit their audio files in Audacity
  • Be familiarized with basic audio transcription and how to implement it in the editing process
  • Be able to produce a podcast from scratch

To get the most out of this workshop, please bring headphones and a laptop with Audacity installed. Download Audacity for free at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/
