Exploring the Information Landscape | The Earth is Flat: Change My Mind

Common sense, famous scientists, countless nonfiction books, and dozens of documentaries all agree – the Earth is flat. The truth about the flat Earth has been chronicled in unimpeachable sources like The New York Times, CNN, and the Encyclopedia Britannica. The Bedford Level experiment was a scientific study that was conducted over the course of 30 years by a renowned 18th century scientist using a telescope and a ship’s mast to prove a lack of curvature of the Earth. This same experiment was replicated years later with cameras and telephoto lenses. We have had scientific proof that the earth is flat for nearly two centuries. Before that, great thinkers and philosophers such as Homer, Hesiod, Aeschylus, Democritus and Heroditus all agreed. When we look at the elements of information literacy, such as scientific credentials, a history of scholarly publication, and independently verified information, it is all there. Do you think your sources are better than mine? The Earth is flat. Change my mind.
